This is Salleh Ben Joned. One of my favourite Malaysian writers. I went to the re-issue of As I Please reading at Silverfish Books last week with Adam. We had a great time listening to the readings by Jo Kukathas, Jit Murad and Ramli Ibrahim among others...

Yesterday I went to the charity premier of Lord of the Rings: Return of the King at KLCC with a friend. I saw a few LOTR cosplay and I went nuts. I took out my camera and took their pictures. I was such a nerd. I wish I could meet Spongebob Squarepants cosplay in my lifetime. He's so gay.

Talking about being so very der gay... It seems that the Village People of LOTR (the Hobbits... Frodo, Samwise, Merry and Pippin) are so gay! Yesterday, I thought I was watching a gay flick. It was so weird. Okaylah, call it brudderly lurve and what have you (and really, LOTR is no Canto inspired movie). But are you sure or not? Like, in Return of the King, Frodo gave Samwise one of the most romantic gazes in film history. And please don't get me started with the sadomasochistic gay-themed love triangle bit between Frodo, Samwise and Gollum.

You people have to watch this movie for yourself lah. If you're queer, I'm quite sure you can relate yourself to the "empat sekawan" Hobbits... If not, you have the excuse to delude yourself by saying that this is what you call "friendship" - when in real life, you wouldn't even think of holding your same-sex friend in public, let alone smooching him or her affectionately on the forehead.
